Brandon & Betty 09.16.21

Brandon and Betty’s wedding day was filled with love, family, and good times. After almost 2 years of small intimate backyard weddings, I was back at a beautiful wedding venue. Don’t get me wrong, I love intimate backyard weddings – they are chill, and intentional, and the time you have for photos *chef’s kiss* and for a photographer, is a dream come true. Wedding days that take place in more traditional wedding venues typically have a more packed timeline, which can get stressful, especially when the wedding is running behind schedule. The advantage of having a more packed timeline is that there will always be something to capture. I honestly wouldn’t be able to choose which wedding style I like best because I love all weddings. Cheesy, I know, but it's the truth – I guess, I’m in the right career! Maybe one day I’ll write a blog post on the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of weddings, but until then, let’s get back to Brandon and Betty, the stars of this blog post.

Brandon got ready at his parent’s home with his groomsmen, while Betty got ready in a hotel room with her girls before heading to the Cambridge Mill where they had their ceremony and reception. A perk to having your whole wedding day at one venue is that there is only one time that guests will arrive late. No matter who you are, no matter where you have it, you will always have guests arriving late to your wedding. Another perk is that you don’t need to fit ‘travel time’ into your wedding day; there’s no confusion about where anyone needs to be, and there's less of a chance of family and bridal party members getting lost on the way to get photos done.

Brandon and Betty’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful, the décor, the location, the love they share, and the love their family and friends have for them. I was welcomed in with open arms and felt so loved and cared for. I will let you in on a little secret, if your photographer feels safe, comfortable, and valued, they will go above and beyond in bringing you their very best.

If you’ve been debating if you and your partner should sneak out for a few minutes during your reception for golden hour photos, take this as your sign to do it! Especially if your wedding day is jam-packed, make sure you take the opportunity to step away from it all, not only are you guaranteed gorgeous photos but you also get some alone time with your new spouse!
