Matthias & Elisa 09.16.23

When Elisa first told me they were hosting their wedding at a summer camp in Bancroft, ON, I was instantly emotionally invested. When I was a teenager, my dream wedding was exactly what Matthias and Elisa had planned; a weekend in nature with all their family and friends, celebrating their love. Wedding days go by so quickly, so why not stretch the celebrations over a weekend?! I got together with Matthias and Elisa just a week prior for their engagement session (which you can find here), and it was honestly so nice getting to see them again so soon. When you host a camp wedding, it really is all hands-on deck because, well, it’s a summer camp and not a wedding venue. Every single one of M&E guests wanted to ensure this day was perfect for them, and so everyone had a job. The ceremony setup and teardown, hair and makeup, the reception space setup and teardown, and all the delicious food were all done by friends and family. The wedding ceremony was officiated by one of Matthias’s groomsmen (M&E actually got legally married in the beginning of July, but I sadly wasn’t able to be there to document it because I had strep throat and an ear infection), the cake was made by one of Elisa’s bridesmaids, and the DJ was also a groomsman. I can’t describe what it was like to see so many people working together in love for these two; it was a truly beautiful sight to see.

Matthias wanted part of his groomsmen photos to be of all the guys getting their ties on. I am a huge fan of non-traditional wedding photos, making your photos your own, and honestly just enjoying your wedding day. Plus, we ended up getting some really great candid photos as a result.

Don’t even get me started on these portraits; the lighting and setting was perfect!
