Matthias + Elisa

On Thursday evening, just over a week before their wedding, I met with Matthias and Elisa in Elora, Ontario, for their engagement session. The original plan was to get together back on July 3rd, as the two officially got married at the courthouse in Kitchener, but sadly, I had strep and an ear infection. But Arizona, why wait until the week before their wedding to get together? For the last little while, Matthias and Elisa have had a long-distance relationship, as Elisa had been living in DC and had only come back to Canada for the July 3rd weekend and for the week before the wedding. If you thought planning a wedding with your partner right beside you was tough, planning through a screen is on a whole other level.

Elisa was the one to first pop the question with a beautiful watch when the two were out on a camping trip, and of course he said yes! A month later, Matthias proposed with the most perfect ring, though I am a bit biased as my engagement ring shares the same stone, Alexandrite. Unique stones and settings are my favourites; not all love is the same, and that should be reflected (in my opinion) in your wedding bands, your wedding day, and in your marriage.

The three of us explored the Elora Gorge before heading into town for a slight change of scenery. About halfway through our session, not long after M and E changed their outfits, it started to lightly drizzle before turning into a downpour. Thank God for the protection of forests. The rain didn't last long, but long enough to clear out the streets, so it felt like we had the town to ourselves. Their wedding will be held in Bancroft at a summer camp on Saturday, and I couldn’t be more excited. But until then, enjoy some of my favourite shots from their engagement session.
